What is Beylo, and how can it help me?

Beylo is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace that connects people who need items with those who own them. Whether you need camping gear for a weekend trip or want to earn money from items gathering dust, Beylo makes it simple and safe.

How do I list an item for rent?

Listing is quick and easy. Simply download the app, take a few photos of your item, set your price and availability, and publish. Your listing will be visible to renters in your area within minutes.

Is it safe to rent from strangers?

Safety is our priority. All users are verified through ID checks and phone verification. You can also read reviews from previous transactions and message users before committing to a rental.

How do payments work on Beylo?

All payments are handled securely through the app. Renters pay upfront, and owners receive their earnings after the rental is completed. No cash exchanges or awkward negotiations needed.

How do I create an account and verify my identity (18+)?

Create an account using our Beylo App with your basic details. We may ask for your date of birth where needed to confirm you're 18+. Business users may also provide company details (e.g., VAT number).

When you book an item, you enter a binding rental agreement with the Owner. Beylo is a neutral marketplace and isn't a party to that rental agreement — it only facilitates bookings and payments.

How do cancellations and refunds work?

If the Owner cancels or doesn't approve, you get a full refund. If the Renter cancels: more than 48h before start gets a full refund, 48-24h gets 50% refund, less than 24h gets no refund of rental charges.

When am I charged and how do payouts work?

Payments are processed via Stripe. Renters authorise Beylo/Stripe to charge rental charges. Owner payouts are processed through Stripe to the Owner's bank account, typically instantly or within a few business days.

Do you charge platform fees?

Yes. Service Fee (7% of rental price, min €1, max €50) and a payment processing fee (2.9% + €0.30) shown at checkout.

What if an item is damaged, missing, or returned late?

Renters must return items on time and in the same condition; Owners must accurately describe item condition. If a dispute arises, Beylo will investigate and may capture/hold funds while the dispute is resolved.

What data do you collect, and how can I access/delete it (GDPR)?

We collect account, booking/transaction, device/usage and communications data; payments are handled by Stripe. You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection by contacting us.

For years, high season has been something you put up with. This August, something's different: residents get paid too. Beylo, a Mallorcan startup born on the island, lets you rent out whatever is sitting idle in your garage: the paddleboard, the big barbecue, the bikes nobody uses. You set the price, and every week thousands of tourists arrive searching for exactly that.

Beylo is a rental marketplace between neighbours: local people renting out their things to whoever needs them for a few days. It works on iPhone and Android, and in the browser at rent.beylo.app. Listing an item is free and takes a few minutes: a couple of photos, a short description and whatever price you decide.

Think of the board that has spent two summers gathering dust in the storeroom. Or the kayak, the tent, the drill, the pushchair nobody uses any more. In Mallorca, in the middle of August, somebody is looking for exactly that ten minutes from your front door. Until now, that person ended up buying one or renting from a chain. The difference is that now they can pay you instead.

How a rental works

When someone books your item, you get a notification and you decide whether to accept. You agree on the handover wherever suits you both: your doorstep, the beach, wherever. Payment is handled inside the platform, so there are no envelopes, no awkward bank transfers and no chasing anyone. When the rental ends and your things come back, the money is yours.

No fees, no lock-in, no small print. Beylo only takes a small commission when you earn. If your board never gets booked, you pay nothing. If it goes out every weekend in August, the maths takes care of itself.

Overtourism is not something you are going to fix, and neither is this article. But there is a difference between watching it happen and getting something out of it. The stuff is already in the storeroom, the people are already here, and at last the island works for the people who live on it too.
