We found a way to rent a Seabob-style scooter for just €5 a day, until the end of the month

An underwater scooter has appeared on Beylo at €5 a day until the end of the month. A professional Seabob rental on the island runs to around €300 a day.

Five euros a day. That is what it currently costs to rent an underwater scooter in Mallorca. It is a handheld device that pulls you through the water, on the surface or under it, while you do nothing at all. It is listed on Beylo until the end of the month. For context, a professional Seabob rents on the island for around €300 a day. This is not a Seabob, and it is worth saying so plainly. It is an underwater scooter, light and easy to hold with one hand. Anyone gets the hang of it in minutes. The idea is the same, and the price difference is not.

Beylo is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace. People in Mallorca renting out their things to whoever needs them for a few days. The app is free, works on iPhone and Android, and in the browser at rent.beylo.app. The same way someone has listed this scooter, others have listed paddleboards, bikes, kayaks and tools.

How to find it

Open the app and search for "underwater scooter". That is the shortest route. You can also browse what is listed near you, widen the search radius or wander through the categories, which is where you find the things you did not know existed. The scooter is in Mallorca. If you are on the island, it is not far.

How renting works

The whole process fits inside a coffee break. Pick your day in the listing's calendar and send the request. The owner confirms it. Payment is handled inside the platform, so there are no awkward bank transfers and no envelopes of cash. Then you meet for the handover, get a two-minute explanation of how it works and head for the water. Returning it is the same in reverse. Meet, hand it back, done.

The offer ends with the month, and August is already on its way out. If you have spent the whole summer watching water toys go past that cost as much as dinner for eight, this time the maths comes out in your favour.
